Workings of YES

YES believes in working for the underprivileged society and the youth of our country in every area with a vision of their upliftment and betterment related to every aspect in which they lack.

The basic criteria that YES follow are:-

1. CHILD EDUCATION-

This involves basically the primary teachings in which the members of YES go to slums and teach the kids the basics of education starting from A,B,C,D TO 1,2,3,4 moving onto general knowledge and sense of current affairs.
Teaching them about social responsibility is another part of child education. We teach the slum kids etiquettes and values. We insist them to stop begging and try to put realization in them about the need and importance of education in one’s life.
Child nurturing is another aim. There are lot of slum kids who are under the grip of an evil known as addiction. Since they are most vulnerable getting addicted to alcohol tobacco and cigarette (bidi) is nothing new in slums. Every day when the members take education classes of these kids they tell them the nuances of the addiction . We force them to quit alcohol or tobacco and make them understand the negative effect of these on their life & future.
We try to make them aware about the need of education in any life and instill determination in them to become something great in life ahead, to become successful in life and get out of this downtrodden life. We try to shape their future by making them understand the difference between their present life and a better future. We teach them about healthy & hygienic life and about various diseases. For this we have a programme every two months in which we go to slums and show a presentation or docu drama to them on projectors.
We organize programmes on child awareness also. We tell them to say no to child labor. We teach them and make them understand the negative & illegal aspect of issues like child labor and child abuse. YES did a protest march at JANTAR MANTAR on 13^th nov 2007 against child labor.
We organize events such as PRATIBHA to enhance their talent and give svope for cultural activities.

2. YOUTH UPLIFTMENT-

Other than working for the underprivileged section of the society YES aims at the upliftment of youth talent amongs the members of YES and others. It looks forward to bring to the notice of world, the hidden talent of youth or of such youths who do not get a proper platform to showcase or enhance their skills. YES organizes fashion shows for the talented youths. In these shows YES doesn’t heir professional models but give chance to newcomers and aspiring models. Through fashion shows yes promotes models (eg. Sapna choudhary-student of ASMS and upcoming model), designers (Swati Malhotra-upcoming footwear designer), choreographers ( Venus- ex student of ASMS) and anchors ( Archana jayan- student of 2^nd yr graduation).

YES provides the youth to show their talent in other areas such as

Photography -Neeraj Sauda- upcoming photographer, mass communication student. Abhinav Lal in videography, he is a keen cinematographer.
Leadership & building confidence- members such as Abhinav Lal, Akhil chandila, Tarun Kumar, Shubham Dubey has developed leadership quality and built confidence through working for YES as it involves interaction on a larger scale.
Enhancing communication skills- since working for any NGO requires lot of interaction & presentations , working for YES has helped members such as Sampada & Yogesh Joshi to enhance their communication skills.
Direction- YES also prepares documentaries on various social issues. As students of mass communication most members are aware of the techniques of film making. This gives scope for the interested members to enhance their direction skills. Members such as Sampada & Sahar are experiencing this promotion.
Editing- YES prepares many documentaries, AV presentations, multimedia presentations etc. For making these again the members of YES are given chance. Members such as Ravi, Abhishek Mantri, Samit are benefitted from this.
Creative writing- members such as Shamael Khan and Ashima Chabra have excelled in creative writing as they were given scope to put forward their writing skills and enhance it through practice.

3. ADULT AWARENESS-

The main motive of YES is to help the slum kids to grow into a better human being. For this just nurturing them is not enough. Creating awareness among their parents is another crucial aspect. YES shows presentations and documentaries on projectors in various slums for the kids as well as their guardians. We make them understand their social responsibility, responsibility towards their children. We make them aware about social issues such as child trafficking, child abuse, health issues- aids, tuberculosis, viral diseases, hygiene methods, swine flu etc. We aware them about their rights given by the government to them. We tell them about Right To Information Act (RTI), about various privileges given to them on government level. We try to uplift their mental ability, expand their vision, try to decrease their orthodox attitude towards girls and other aspects. Aware them about population issues & necessity of a healthy hygienic life. Etc

4. AWAKENING OF YOUTH-

As is said future of any country is in the hands of its youth. However now-a-days youths are deviating from their path, their motive. Youths are getting distracted from the mainstream, they do not realize the need of their contribution for their own motherland. For this Young Energetic Society organizes programmes and events to awaken the youth to their responsibility. Motto of Yes is not to as the youth to leave aside their enjoyment and give full time to social work. It is to tell them that for sure they should work on their dreams and parents expectations, they should go to clubs, watch movies, have party but take out 60 mins per day for their social responsibility, their contribution towards their country. YES appeals to All youth to understand their requirement and role in shaping future of the underprivileged section which in turn will help their country to grow and prosper. YES organizes meeting on important days such as 15^th august and 26^th January to put in some more patriotism in the youths. YES organizes seminars on Youth related issues (Youth awakening seminar on 12^th jan 2009 at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra Auditorium-noida & conference on Women issues) Meetings are called to discuss these topics and keep the fire & dedication alive in every heart.

5. VOCATIONAL TRAINING-

YES also provides vocational trainings in various fields for the society.

Vocational Training for shoemaking under Swati Malhotra is given to slum dwellers for self employment and generation of funds for them.
Food Products & handicrafts making (under Process)- to give training to the women of slums for making pickels, papads etc which will be marketed and sold by the members of YES. Handicrafts includes greeting cards, toys, paper works, clay modeling, etc.
Internship Facilities- YES provides internship facilities to the youths, eg. Raja Saheb & Manasi Paul from Amity University did their internship as trainee under Aware India Programme.
Councelling centres- councelling prigrammes are held esp for the members whenever they feel discouraged or are too stressed because of any pressure. This is done in order to encourage, motivate and rebuild the confidence in the members whenever there is need for it.
